Our iwi leadership response to whānau voice, is in the setting of our strategic priorities and pathways to achieving the Manako. These nine Huanui will guide us in bringing Mō Kā Uri to life.
AHI KA
We empower our Papatipu Runaka to be relevant, respected, and resilient. Our regional mana motuhake is expressed every day, and we identify and nurture emerging leaders.
KAIKA NOHOAKA
We ensure Kaika Nohoaka are vibrant and adaptive communities. They shall attract and nourish our people and contribute strongly to our collective Kai Tahu identity.
Mahika kai me te Taiao
We model wise use of Mahika kai and te taiao as we sustain ourselves and others. We mitigate causes and consequences of climate change where we can.
Tuakiri
We equip our whanau to express their Kai Tahu heritage in a range of meaningful and valid ways. This strengthens individuals, communities and iwi as a whole.
Kāi Tahutaka
We protect and grow our Kāi Tahu identity. Mātauraka tuku iho, especially whakapapa and te reo is authenticated, safeguarded and made accessible.
Pakari
We have a culture that is dynamic and evolutionary and operating on intergenerational scales. We aim to make each generation stronger than the one before.
Mauroa
We honour Te Kerēme by vigorously defending the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement. We also use our influence to boost equity of opportunity across our takiwā.
Oraka
We use our collective authority to enhance national investments in health, housing and education. Our involvement increases whānau well-being and independence.
Tukuihotaka
We manage our collective economic resources with discipline and foresight. Investment opportunities and spending decisions balance the needs of present generations with those of future generations.
